CeMM Outing 2025

On 3 October 2025, the CeMM community gathered for the annual outing at the historic Theater an der Wien. Built in 1801 by Mozart’s librettist Emanuel Schikaneder, the theatre has hosted many world premieres, including Beethoven’s Fidelio. Reopened in 2006 as Vienna’s “new opera house,” it remains a cultural landmark and was the perfect setting for our 2025 theme: “changing the scenery.”
CeMM colleagues enjoyed guided tours that offered a glimpse behind the scenes of this unique stage, before continuing to Waldviertlerhof for lunch. Our new PhD students also had the opportunity to introduce themselves and engaged everyone with a lively quiz that challenged their knowledge.
We extend a warm welcome to our new CeMM PhD students:
• Carla Aranda Vallejo (Grebien group)
• Negar Asadi (de Rooij group)
• Julie Beaucamp (Winter group)
• Lilly Bremer (Busslinger group)
• Victoria Ellmer (Stary group, not in the picture)
• Patrik Hains (Busslinger group)
• Freya Jungen (Seruggia group)
• Magdalena Justyniarska (Campbell group)
• Mauriz Lichtenstein (Winter group)
• Thaddaeus Newerkla (de Rooij group)
• Aljaž Simonič (Kubicek group)
• Jan Slupski (Bergthaler group)
CeMMies are driven by a deep passion for science and a strong dedication to their work. Yet, beyond the lab and office, regular team events play an essential role in nurturing the sense of community, diversity, and collaboration that defines our institute. This year’s annual outing was once again an engaging and joyful occasion, an opportunity for colleagues to step away from their daily routines, explore new perspectives beyond life sciences, and strengthen the unique CeMM spirit that unites us all.
Thank you to Anna Wolfschwenger for the organization, and to everyone who joined and made the day so memorable!
