The 19th Landsteiner Lecture, delivered by Jay Shendure on 11 May 2026, provided not only an inspiring scientific program but also a valuable opportunity for members of the CeMM Alumni Network to reconnect. Following the lecture, a dedicated alumni corner offered a welcoming space for former and current CeMM researchers to meet, exchange experiences, and discuss developments in science, innovation, and their careers since leaving CeMM.

A particular highlight of the evening was an exclusive tête-à-tête with Jay Shendure, who joined the alumni gathering after the lecture. In an informal setting, alumni had the opportunity to engage directly with one of the world's leading genomic scientists, discussing scientific breakthroughs, future directions in biomedical research, and the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation of researchers.

The event underscored the strength of the CeMM community and the enduring connections that extend far beyond researchers' time at the institute. As Ana Pudja reflected: “An inspiring evening with a truly memorable speech, amazing music and a wonderful venue. What stood out most to me was the lively energy during the reception — engaging conversations about the future of science, innovative treatments, and the importance of fostering cultures that empower exceptional teams.”
