CeMM at Long Night of Research / Lange Nacht der Forschung #LNF24

Share

Thank you to the CeMM Postdoc representatives who organized this year’s Long Night of Research #LNF24 activities at CeMM, and all volunteers who supported this event. It was a pleasure to welcome our visitors and to see their interest in research and medicine.

At various activity stations for children and adults, CeMM members tried to give a glimpse into wet lab methods and introduced Virtual Reality technology for exploring biological data, and to learn more about network science. We also provided general information about CeMM and the EU-LIFE alliance to our guests.

Recent advances in high-throughput technologies have created exciting new opportunities for systematically investigating the molecular basis of human disease. The overarching goal of ‘network medicine’ is to provide conceptual insights into the network signatures that characterize diseases states, and to create tools for disease gene identification to tumor classification or drug discovery. Thanks to the group of CeMM Adjunct PI Jörg Menche #LBI-NetMed for offering their VR glasses to dive into molecular networks.

Science is our passion and profession, while the improvement of medicine is the mission of CeMM. Outreach events, like the Lange Nacht der Forschung, also motivate and inspire researchers and scientific support staff to transfer their knowledge to society. We warmly invite the public to stay connected and to continue their interest and support, because ‘Science is our Medicine‘!
