CeMM is renowned as a leading training institute with an outstanding track record of guiding postdoctoral researchers to become internationally recognized principal investigators and entrepreneurs.
Launched in autumn 2020, the Pre-ERC Postdoc Program embodies this commitment by redefining postdoctoral training —not merely as a transitional phase after earning a PhD, but as a strategic pursuit of scientific excellence and leadership.
This competitive postdoctoral program is specifically designed to prepare researchers for a successful ERC Starting Grant or comparable competitive grant application. The ultimate goal is to launch participants into independent research career at top-tier research institutions.
Postdocs at CeMM benefit from a highly collaborative environment enriched by innovative ideas, ambitious projects, world-class infrastructure, and a shared mindset that drives groundbreaking biomedical research. A specially designed training program—including expert-led seminars, individualized mentoring, and hands-on supervision—plays a key role in shaping the scientific leaders of the future.
Our success in postdoctoral training is built upon providing an environment where cutting-edge biomedical research can thrive, coupled with a dynamic scientific atmosphere, strong research focus, and close collaborations with physicians and clinical researchers.
The program is based at CeMM in Vienna, Austria-one of Europe’s leading centres for basic biomedical research with a focus on clinical translation. Key institutional partners include the Medical University of Vienna and the St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI).
