All scientific staff are compensated according to the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) salary scale, ensuring competitive and transparent pay. Every CeMM employee is covered by statutory health insurance in Austria, which includes free medical treatment by physicians and hospitals, along with subsidized prescription fees. Partners and children of employees are also eligible for co-insurance coverage.

To support international talent, CeMM offers a relocation allowance for all new employees moving to Vienna from abroad. Additionally, newcomers can apply for up to six months of subsidized accommodation, including larger apartments suitable for couples and families.

Vienna is a family-friendly city, offering many kindergartens and schools, most of which are either free or subsidized. To further ease the transition, CeMM provides free German language classes on-site, taught by professional trainers at multiple levels.

The institute nurtures not only physical and mental health but also fosters a positive, collegial work environment where social and interpersonal relationships thrive.

To encourage both scientific and personal growth, CeMM organizes regular lab meetings and weekly seminars, which are integral to every scientist’s experience. Celebrating major achievements together strengthens the CeMM community and motivates continued innovation.

Employee health and safety are further supported by a dedicated company physician, offering monthly consultation hours for workplace organization, medical advice, prescriptions, and vaccinations.

Mental health support is a key priority: CeMM provides free, confidential psychological counseling for all employees. Sessions can be attended during monthly on-site consultations or arranged individually, ensuring accessibility and discretion.
