A Fair & Transparent

Hiring Process at CeMM

At CeMM, we truly value our employees. To attract the best talent with the right mix of skills, experience, personality, and potential, we invest significant time and effort into our recruitment process.

Our selection process is comprehensive and transparent, typically involving a CV review to assess academic achievements and work experience, structured interviews, candidate presentations, and practical tests.

We are committed to conducting a fair and transparent recruitment process for every open position at CeMM. While minor variations may occur depending on the role, the general structure of our recruitment process includes the following steps:

Application Submission

All applications must be submitted through the CeMM online recruitment platform. Please note that we are unable to accept applications via email. Each job posting clearly outlines the required application documents, usually including:

  • A motivation letter
  • A current CV
  • Names and contact details of at least two referees

Once you submit your application, you will receive an automatic email confirmation. Remember, your application must be submitted before the advertised deadline to be considered.

Application Screening

After the application deadline, the CeMM selection committee will review all submissions. The committee typically includes the hiring group leader and an HR representative. For senior positions, the committee may also involve additional internal and external stakeholders.

Online or Telephone Interview

If your application is longlisted, you will be invited for an online interview (via Zoom or Microsoft Teams) or a telephone interview with the hiring group leader. This stage helps us assess your suitability before moving forward.

Visit to CeMM in Vienna

Candidates shortlisted after the online interview are invited to visit CeMM headquarters in Vienna. Our HR team will assist with travel and accommodation arrangements, including visa support if needed.

During your visit:

  • You will deliver a presentation introducing yourself and your research.
  • You will participate in one-on-one interviews with selection committee members.
  • You will meet with an HR representative to discuss work-life balance at CeMM, employee benefits, and any HR-related questions.
  • You will also have informal interactions, such as lunch or coffee with research group members, to get a feel for the working environment at CeMM.
Job Offer

Shortly after your visit, you will receive feedback from our HR team. Successful candidates will receive a job offer from CeMM. Candidates who are not selected will be notified via email.

CeMM Recruitment Guidelines

Our recruitment procedures are aligned with the LIBRA Recruitment Handbook, developed in collaboration with 12 leading European research institutes from the EU-Life alliance. These guidelines support hiring the most qualified candidates while promoting diversity and inclusion at CeMM.

Communication Policy

We acknowledge every application with an automatic email response. Communication throughout the process — from longlisting to shortlisting — is handled mainly via email by the HR Department.

To ensure a fair hiring process, direct contact between candidates and hiring managers is limited to scheduled online interviews and official visits. All candidates who visit CeMM will receive personalized feedback following their interviews.
