"What do an environmental historian and a center for molecular medicine have in common? Human history is a history of coping with environments. Among them, the disease environment with its invisible threats was and remains among the most difficult. Zoonoses have been with us since the domestication of animals, food safety has been a prerequisite for human survival since the dawn of humanity. CeMM works toward human health. We share the conviction that research should be done to make the world a better place. We share the conviction that basic research is indispensable. We also share the “One Health” approach. Human health depends on environmental health and on social and economic circumstances that promote health. We have much in common, actually."
