Basic research is a key to progress and prosperity and especially in life sciences and the health sector of enormous value for society. At the same time, it can be seen as a role model for European cooperation and bridge building between nations: without international and unrestricted exchange of ideas, results and talents, European science could not stay competitive. Harboring scientists of more than 40 nations, CeMM is an outstanding example for toplevel basic research based on a high degree of international cooperation.
